SUMMARY:

The thesis is structured in 4 chapters, which point out the geographical dimension of the neo-Pentecostal denominations. Chapter 1 presents a literature review conforming the theoretical building of the thesis, briefly presenting the concepts, concepts and categories that guide the course of our work, such as: territory, problematic institutional spaces and the political dimension of the religious phenomenon. In Chapter 2 we start from a discussion on the participation of religious, particularly neo-Pentecostal denominations, in Brazilian politics, pointing out how the action of religious actors influences the political agenda of the country. Indeed, it is argued that that this political action manifests projects of power of religious denominations, involving religious-based political discourses, elected parliamentarians and bills approved in the National Congress. In this chapter it is clear our proposal for neopentecostal expansion focused on the materiality of their political strategies, especially with regard to parliamentary amendments aimed at enabling new religious enterprises, laws that favor the finances of churches and the various mechanisms to regiment not only the faithful, but voters in general.
