SUMMARY:

The municipalities of Guamaré and Galinhos, both located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, stand out nationally for their exuberance and tourist attractions, with emphasis on the municipality of Galinhos, which in addition to being one of the outstanding tourist destinations not only nationally but internationally. Geodiversity, defined here as a designation of abiotic elements and processes, is at the center of attention in these municipalities, as it gives genesis and shape to the beautiful landscapes that exist here. The Geodiversity worked here has not always been a science that has been in evidence in the academic environment, it is clear that for a certain period science may have given greater emphasis to the biotic environment, especially when it comes to nature conservation. Thus, in the 1990s, theorists began to develop studies seeking to insert abiotic elements as crucial elements in natural conservation, placing them with the same value as biodiversity. Geodiversity, after three decades of multiple research and developed methods, has today become a varied field of study, with emphasis on its most prominent elements, called Geoheritage, which will correspond to its object of study and genesis, in terms of geomorphology, we study the inheritance geomorphology. This research aims to evaluate the geomorphological heritage of the municipalities of Guamaré and Galinhos, based on the quantitative and qualitative assessment sheets of the geomorphological heritage prepared by Araújo (2021), Diniz, Araújo and Chagas (2021; 2022). The steps taken so far were the development of the theoretical framework, methodological procedures, analysis of the geoforms and geomorphological units of the area, in addition to the qualitative assessment. So far, sites of geomorphological interest have been delimited, which could constitute the geomorphological heritage of the area, namely Ilha do Presídio and Praias do Minhoto/Amaro, both located in the municipality of Guamaré, Spit de Galinhos, located in the municipality of Galinhos and the Galinhos-Guamaré Estuarine Complex, which is present in the two municipalities investigated here.
