The debate about urban network, hierarchy and heterarchy has been intensified in geographic science, especially in the last decade of the 21st century. Theoretical discussions are based on the changes that have taken place in Brazilian cities due to the dissemination of contents linked to the technical-scientific-informational environment, which starts to consolidate multiscalar relationships between urban centers. The studies of the Region of Influence of the Cities (REGIC), published in 2007 and 2020, signal the changes in question through the constructed analyses, in a way that takes into account the new roles played by Brazilian urban centers. Among these, our attention is directed to the Regional Capitals (medium cities), Subregional Centers and Zone Centers. Paraíba, according to REGIC (2018), is one of the Brazilian states that has undergone relevant changes in the configuration of its urban network, with the multiplication of hierarchies and the redefinition of the roles and functions performed by cities, especially the Subregional Centers and Zone Centers. Therefore, we understand that, from these transformations, new arrangements and dynamics based on complementarity and sharing of functions occur. This fact expands the centrality levels of cities and changes the game of hierarchical relations existing between them. We assume that some factors were responsible for the construction of these new arrangements and dynamics and for the hierarchical reconfigurations, namely: the role of the State as an agent of production of urban space responsible for implementing educational public policies that resulted in the multilocation of higher and technical education institutions, public and private; the advance of capitalism at different scales, through the tertiary sector, which is now characterized by the multiplicity of commercial and service establishments of the most distinct fields and natures; and the dissemination of the technical-scientific-informational environment based on the dissemination of telephone and internet networks, as well as the financial sector with the hyper capillarity of branches and banking posts. Finally, and taking into account what was exposed, with the construction of this thesis, we aim to understand the transformations that have occurred in the urban network of Paraíba in order to highlight the new arrangements and dynamics that condition the sharing and complementarity of functions between cities in the face of the breakdown of hierarchical relationships, giving new meaning to them through the construction of multi-scalar relationships. For this purpose, we adopted as vectors of analysis higher and technical education institutions, public and private, commercial establishments and their multiple types, with emphasis on Shopping Centers, Atacarejos, Retail Networks, Associative Networks and Franchises and the financial and informational sector based on mobile phone and internet networks and branches and banking posts. From these vectors, analyzed herein, we can infer that the implementation of public and private higher and technical education institutions, the multiplication of commercial establishments in their multiple types and natures and the dissemination of technical, scientific and informational content associated with the internet network and mobile telephony and the branches and bank offices were responsible for the hierarchical reconfiguration. This is because they make the structure of cities more complex, expanding their roles and functions and placing them in relational positions that were not observed before, creating a set of network relations that result in the conformation of multiscalar arrangements and dynamics
