SIMULATION AT PILOT PLANT OF ADEQUATION OF CONVENCIONAL WATER TREATMENT PLANT FOR DOUBLE FILTRATION
Double filtration. Water treatment. Adequacy of water treatment technology.
Extremoz DWTP treats flow rate equal to 700 L / s, that is, it has a hydraulic overload compared to its nominal flow rate of around 30%. The WTP implantation was conceived with two treatment modules, each module equipped with two mechanized flocculators with four flocculation chambers in series, followed by two laminar flow filters and four downflow gravity filters, and working hydraulically as a declining rate, although the project indicates a convencional treatment technology, since 2000 Extremoz DWTP operates with a direct filtration technology and flocculation and decantation structures function as tanks and not scenery, the construction of it's second module whith convencional treatment technology is not economically and technically feasible. Reforming the current setup for pre-oxidation (flocculating tanks) and gravel ascending filter (decanter) chambers or adapting a convetional treatment technology for 1,000 L / s leakage filtration is an alternative that results in possible economic expansion of DWTP. For direct filtration systems at the end of the useful life or with flow rates above the project has as an alternative an adaptation of the direct filtration system for double filtration with gravel ascending filters (GAF) and fast downstream filters (FDF) with technical-economic viability . For adequacy, serial studies on the behavior of a system that show a capacity of water production that meets the standards of potability and that meets the increase of the demand of the future years. (700 L / s) and a treatment technology for a current water flow (700 L / s) and future (1000 L / s).
