Clothing aimed at professionals for carrying out their labor activities is called uniform. In the case of military clothing, it is the official symbol and representation of soldiers in the armed forces, expressing the values, tradition, hierarchy and discipline in each of the institutions, as in the Military Police. Military clothing must to perform the following main objectives to the users: protection from external factors, functionality for tasks and identification; but also provide comfort. Due to its importance, there are scientific efforts in studies focused on this theme, mainly in the institutions of the armed forces. However, there are few studies on the functionality and comfort of uniforms used by the Military Police. This fact fosters a scenario of scarcity of knowledge about the characteristics of structural and ergonomic attributes of these uniforms, and their relationship in the different situations experienced by the PMs (climate, social and work performance). Therefore, this research aims to characterize the structural, mechanical and colorimetric properties of Military Police uniforms from different Brazilian states (RN, SC and MG), verifying their behavior in users and in the situations of labor activity in the state of RN. For this, the research will have two stages of analysis: experimental analysis composed by methods for the structural, mechanical and colorimetric characterizations of the uniforms of the three states; and the perception of RN military police officers about uniforms through the application of a self-administered questionnaire. The results are expected to verify how these textile substrates behave in the interaction with the PMs and the relationship with their work environment, analyzing the influence of uniforms on the comfort, performance and protection of users; the vision of the PMs themselves in the satisfaction of their uniforms and their real needs. Thereby, expected with this work to make correlations between the data obtained experimentally and the abstract perception, and suggest more assertive improvements for this clothes.
