Architectural quality in university libraries: a study of fortaleza campi
Post-Occupancy Evaluation. University Libraries Buildings. Architectural Quality.
This research aims to evaluate the architectural quality of university library buildings and identify how it can be perceived by users, through a theoretical basis supported by architecture and environmental psychology, applying the instruments indicated in the methodological procedures of the Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE). For this purpose, a multi-method approach strategy is adopted, combining objective investigations through the analysis of physical variables of buildings (measurements and inspections of technical, functional and aesthetic aspects) with subjective investigations through the analysis of users' perception. We work with four case studies in central library
buildings on university campuses in Fortaleza (CE), which have distinct organizational components: Library of the Benfica Campus of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Central Library of the Pici Campus UFC, Central Library of the Itaperi Campus of the State University of Ceará (UECE) and the Central Library of the University of Fortaleza
Campus (Unifor). It is believed that the data collected can be of great contribution to the topic, as it carries out a systemic diagnosis by understanding which factors influence the architectural quality of these spaces and which guidelines can be adopted in future university library projects.
