SUMMARY:

In the architect's training process and in his humanitarian construction with the environment, we learn that the representation by hand, like the sketch, is the basis of the connection between the creative imagination and the quick and intuitive initial materialization of ideas, serving to awareness and representation of different ways of understanding contexts based, according to Bryan Lawson (2011), on the involvement that is generated between the design, who draws and the place. However, the current context of teaching in architecture, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, has generated concern among students, teachers and educational institutions in different countries regarding the form and efficiency of teaching and learning of the various themes that make up the area. of freehand drawing. The literature explains that the emergency transition from the face-to-face teaching system to the different remote formats (synchronous and asynchronous), in architecture and urbanism courses, caused sudden changes, not yet measured, substantially transforming old teaching and learning dynamics such as the use of physical objectives and collective socio-practical activities, forms of engagement and presentation of project proposals. In this sense, this research intends to emphasize the various resources now developed and used as teaching-learning methodologies in remote format, between the years 2020 and 2022, where the literature points to a greater approach in the exploration of virtual techniques for teaching drawing freehand. Given the above, the research directs to the following questions: How does the remote teaching format and its resources (material and human) impact the contents of the teaching plans/freehand drawing course? Which formats, mechanisms and virtual practices are most effective in teaching and learning freehand drawing? What are the main challenges in applying remote teaching experiences to freehand drawing? The hypothesis is based on the idea that there are successful remote practices, which have expanded the possibilities of teaching and learning freehand drawing, regardless of the cultural context, but which still have impacts at some level (pedagogical, training, social, etc.) to the implementation of teaching plans and consequently to the learning of contents. The object deals with remote teaching-learning experiences of freehand drawing, prioritizing the mechanisms and virtual resources used. Within the scope of the universe, practices in the main schools of architecture in Natal/RN/Brazil (UNIRN and UFRN) and Fau-Lisbon in Portugal are studied. The general objective seeks to identify and analyze which were the main methodological solutions for remote teaching used in disciplines that have freehand drawing as a training base in these three schools of architecture, between the years 2020 and 2022, and the resulting impacts on the application of teaching/course plans. The main research entities are focused on institutions, teachers and their practices. The research method is based on exploring, describing and analyzing the solutions or paths of these technological and virtual practices to the “traditional models” of teaching used by the institutions. Added to the debate of this thesis, among others, references such as Belén Maiztegui(2021), Bryan Lawson(2011) and Doris Kowaltowski(2011). It is hoped that the research will contribute to the formation of new knowledge in the teaching of architecture and urbanism in Brazil, also advancing in the debate regarding professional training.
