RESUMO:

The technical potential of saving in buildings is estimated at around 35% when considering energy efficiency in buildings from the design phase (Melo, Sorgato and Lamberts, 2014 and Scalco et al, 2014 apud Procel, 2014). This work aims to analyze the economic impacts of architectural solutions aimed at energy efficiency applied in the project of type B nursery of the PROINFÂNCIA/FNDE program, in the Natal/RN climate, based on RTQ-C (Technical Regulation of Quality for the Energy Efficiency Level of Commercial, Services and Public Buildings). It seeks to reveal potential of economy and to highlight the importance of the implementation of control procedures related to the energy performance of public buildings. Partial results concerning the application of the alternative "Clear colonial ceramic tile" applied in one of the nursery buildings (Building I) are presented in this paper. Initially, the original energy consumption was measured through computational simulations, as well as its original energy performance was evaluated, based on RTQ-C. Subsequently, the model was simulated with the alternative mentioned, where there was a 4.35% reduction in energy consumption in relation to the original project. The solution, however, was not financially feasible and it was not able to change the efficiency level of the envelope, remaining at level C. The use of simulations for the purposes of energy diagnosis and evaluation of energy efficiency strategies proved to be very useful. On the other hand, the simulations and the RTQ-C itself proved to be time-consuming procedures and presented some uncertainties that may impair its use in public works audits, more specifically, to estimate financial losses due to unsatisfactory energy performance. The development of the research will certainly deepen the discussions, allowing a more precise and broader view on the subject.
