RESUMO:

 

This research deals with design process theme, specifically on urban design experiences. Will work with architecture and urbanism students from three public schools (IES), using as strategy to get samples of design process, graduate end works (TFGs) and urban design workshops that will be offered to students of these IES. The choice of these strategies will allow the use of two different design process mapping methodology, one more suited for TFGs analysis (Schön, 1983), and other adequate for workshops (Dorst e Dijkhuis, 1995). Beyond personnel interest, it´s justified for scarce exploration in academic world of techniques and methods for urban design, while broad literature can be found for similar areas. Some questions moves this research as: the students designs reflexively about its own practice; or only repeats the methods showed by its teachers; as some observations that supposedly there is no expressive canvass about the act of design in urban design, but, a low reflexive praxis from student; and the debates seems to be for finished projects, and not the process the generated the object or space. The study object is the design process itself in urban design, specifically in geographic and designer profile. This profile includes the cities of Natal – RN, João Pessoa – PB, e Recife - PE; and in terms of students, those who study architecture and urbanism as cited before. The goal is to analyze the urban design process, under used proceedings, methods and techniques aspects, looking to indentify the specificities of design act in urban design.
