RESUMO:

The high level of urban noise has increased noise pollution in large cities. Thus, the present study starts its analysis of the acoustic comfort of the Castelo Branco district, located in city of João Pessoa - PB, based mainly to the sharp sound impacts caused by traffic noise. For such, it’s proposed the use of digital models, by mapping and predicting the soundscape, allowing the creation of acoustic mapping in order to represent the environmental noise in the area. At this moment, only the results of the mapping of the current situation are presented, in which it was possible to identify that the sound levels found in Castelo Branco are above regulation’s – NBR 10151 – maximum recommended limits, both in the day and at night. Through analysis of the results, it will be possible to establish acoustic guidelines on urban planning for the control and reduction of urban noise.
