SUMMARY:

Introduction: Well-being is characterized by a multifactorial and multidimensional construct and represents the individual's conditions and assessment of perception and general satisfaction with their own life through objective and subjective factors.Women, we carry a range of factors that can cause damage to their health and general well-being, such as gender inequality, low self-esteem, triple work days, presence of chronic illnesses, among others. Objective: To analyze the well-being and their relationship with the functionality of women residing in Santa Cruz-RN through the application of the Model Disability Survey (MDS-Brazil) instrument. Methods: Population-based cross-sectional study, carried out from a larger survey through the application of the MDS-Brasil in the city of Santa Cruz -RN, using tablets for application in a total of 500 people. For the present research, data from all women participating in the larger research were included if they were 18 years old or older, with or without a disability, who had or did not have formal education and who had the cognitive capacity to answer the questionnaire, excluding those who dropped out without having completed the interview; totaling data from 385 women.Data from module 1000 and 2000 (income, age, marital status, education and occupation), module 4000 functionality and also from module 7000 Bem-Estar (I7001 a I7012 e I7015 a 7026) regarding quality of life, loneliness and well-being were considered. For the descriptive analysis, mean and standard deviation and simple and relative frequencies, prevalences and confidence intervals were used; for normality was the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test. Results: The women had an average age of 50.36, and most reported having a partner, brown color/race; not having a job and did not declare a level of education. General quality of life was evaluated as good (49.4%) followed by neither good nor bad (34.31%); most reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their ability to perform activities of daily living, with oneself, personal relationships and living conditions, on the other hand satisfaction with general health was considered less satisfied. Less than half reported having full energy for everyday life (42.3%) and enough money (23.1%). For loneliness, never: they feel alone (55.6%), lacking company (54.8%), abandoned (81.8%) and isolated from others (78.7%). As for well-being, less than half of the women reported feeling a lot of: happiness, enthusiasm and disposition the day before and most said they had not felt anger, frustration, sadness, stress, loneliness, worry, boredom and pain, while tiredness most women felt tired (57.4%).
