SUMMARY:

The difficulties faced in Chemistry teaching, as reported by teachers and students, have encouraged the search for diversified teaching strategies. In this context, the use of cinema emerges as a relevant pedagogical possibility, as it allows for the illustration of concepts, the problematization of scientific representations, and the development of interdisciplinary approaches. However, the use of films in the classroom, as with other educational resources, requires careful planning and appropriate pedagogical mediation, especially in light of the structural limitations still present in many basic education schools. In this scenario, this study investigates the relevance of using films and selected scenes related to chemical content as a didactic resource for Chemistry teaching. As an educational product, it proposes the development of a catalog containing film suggestions whose scenes are described and articulated with concepts from this curricular component, aiming to support teaching practice. Additionally, the stages of development and implementation of a short course designed to present the catalog are described, with the objective of collecting teachers’ perceptions regarding its potentialities and limitations. The results indicate that the use of cinema can contribute to making Chemistry teaching more reflective, dynamic, and engaging, thus constituting a promising didactic strategy when used in a planned and mediated manner.
