SUMMARY:

Promoting contextualized Chemistry teaching that goes beyond simple content transmission to integrate the pillars of science, society, technology, and the environment is a contemporary challenge. Within the context of General Basic Education (FGB), it is evident that many teaching practices and textbooks still prioritize a traditional, content-driven focus at the expense of the STSE (Science, Technology, Society, and Environment) approach and the practical application of knowledge. To address this reality, this research aimed to develop and apply an educational product, structured as a Didactic Module, focused on the study of oxides integrated with their social, technological, and environmental dimensions. This interventional research was applied in a High School class at the Professora Diva Cabral public high school, which comprises approximately 1000 students across morning, afternoon, and night shifts, located in Fortaleza, Ceará. The module's development sought to align Chemistry teaching with STSE guidelines, the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Analysis of the results showed a significant cognitive and critical evolution among the students, demonstrating the effectiveness of the didactic material in promoting the transition from common-sense conceptions to scientific, reflective, contextualized, and critical knowledge. This work contributed a teaching module that connects the study of oxides to social, technological, and environmental issues, bringing Chemistry closer to the students' reality. The social impact lies in the development of research in a public high school, stimulating critical thinking and scientific understanding, as well as contributing to the formation of students who are more aware of science, society, and the environment.
