RESUMO:
Present in social and organizational environments, information has been growing in volume and importance in the last decades after its association with TICs and its strategic valuation for organizations. Amidst the current political and economic chaos that afflicts the country and hinders the functioning of public and private institutions, especially those of federal public education, this research, whose nature is qualitative, uses the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) as object of case study. The objective is to find ways of managing the information in UFRN that favors its strategic alignment and, consequently, the best use of its resources and the achievement of institutional objectives. In order to achieve the objectives of this study, data collection methods and techniques, the questionnaire, semi-structured interview, documentary analysis, bibliographic research and observation will be used as methods and techniques of data collection. Data will be collected to map the strategic planning process and the participants' perceptions and experiences, seeking to understand and correct possible flaws in the organizational strategic alignment caused by the use, treatment and / or dissemination of information. To analyze the data will be used content analysis by the inductive method.
