Geography. Teacher training. Distance education
Teacher training has become a theme subject to various studies and actions related to the field of public education policies. Among the factors that justify the concern with the theme is the fact that the initial teacher training acquired significant notoriety, when it happened to attribute to that moment the possibility of anchoring knowledge and experiences capable of triggering a set of actions aimed at the improvement of quality of Education, in order to meet a social context marked by competitiveness and technological advances, in which knowledge assumes a significant value. Considering these observations, the research project has as general objective to analyze the process of training teachers of Geography in the distance mode in UFRN, from a historical-political and pedagogical perspective. The choice of this theme is justified by the importance that the EaD has been assuming in the scenario of the Brazilian Education, especially in what concerns the Teacher training in different areas of knowledge; being the current context marked by the use of information and communication technologies, it is important to investigate how the university uses these resources to promote the pillars of its performance - teaching, research and extension, within the scope of the EAD mode in the perspective of the training of Geography teachers
