SUMMARY:

This dissertation presents a technical diagnosis of records management at the Federal Court of Rio Grande do Norte (JFRN), focusing on the identification of weaknesses, strengths, and the degree of compliance with archival guidelines applicable to the Brazilian Judiciary. The study is grounded in the theoretical frameworks of Archival Science and Information Governance and considers the coexistence of physical and digital collections, as well as the institutional relevance of administrative and judicial records for transparency, efficiency, and memory preservation. Methodologically, it is characterized as applied research, with an exploratory and descriptive nature, conducted as a case study with a qualitative-quantitative approach. The procedures include a structured questionnaire administered to civil servants, documentary and normative analysis (with emphasis on PRONAME and CNJ Resolutions nº 324/2020 and nº 886/2024), and on-site technical observation, combining data triangulation with descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis. The results organize evidence on infrastructure, custody conditions, records workflows, archival instruments, and institutional perceptions, enabling the mapping of consolidated practices, critical issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement. The research shows that consolidating a more integrated records management, aligned with CNJ guidelines, depends on strengthening standardized routines, ensuring consistent use of archival instruments, and implementing governance actions that support decision-making and the generation of public value.
