INDUSTRIAL TUNA FISHING FLEET: INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A BLUE ECO
Creativity; Ocean Fishing; technological innovation; Sustainability.
Ocean fishing in Brazil faces significant challenges due to the absence of advanced technology, inadequate vessels, and a shortage of specialized labor. The vessels currently used for tuna fishing are adaptations from other models, which compromise operational efficiency and increase maintenance and operating costs. In this context, the present project proposes the development of modern and technologically advanced vessels, designed to meet the specific needs of local fishing operators. The central objective is to increase productivity and efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and minimize operational costs through the integration of state-of-the-art technologies. Among the innovations, the use of IoT sensors stands out, enabling real-time monitoring of machine performance, energy consumption, and structural conditions, thus facilitating the implementation of predictive maintenance. Furthermore, the application of artificial intelligence will enable precise mapping of fishing grounds and the location of schools of fish, particularly in the context of climate change, which has altered species' migratory patterns. The project also incorporates sustainable solutions, such as solar energy systems to power essential equipment, ensuring greater autonomy and reducing the consumption of fossil fuels. Advanced satellite communication systems will enable real-time data processing and allow for safe and agile decision-making, even in remote areas. With the implementation of these innovations, the project not only addresses the challenges faced by fishing operators but also prepares the ocean fishing sector for a more technological, efficient, and sustainable future. The modernization of the sector, combined with workforce training and the adoption of innovative practices, represents a crucial milestone for the evolution of fishing in Brazil, resulting in a more productive, cost-effective, and operationally efficient activity, while maintaining a strong commitment to marine resource preservation.
