SUMMARY:

This research, developed within the Professional Master’s Program in Arts, aims to understand how teaching practice can stimulate pedagogical strategies in the context of school choral singing, based on an experience carried out with a 6th-grade class in a public school in Santa Cruz, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The study is grounded in the researcher’s professional trajectory as an Arts/Music teacher, considering choral singing as a central pedagogical practice in the development of collective musical experiences in public education. The investigation follows a qualitative approach, with a descriptive and narrative nature, grounded in autobiographical writing and reflective analysis of teaching practice. Data were produced through field diaries, reflective reports, and audiovisual records collected during the choral activities. The analysis was guided by three interrelated axes aligned with the research problem: the development of creative expression, the social dimension of choral practice, and students’ human formation. The findings indicate that choral singing, when understood as a pedagogical strategy and conducted in a progressive, sensitive, and intentional manner by the teacher, constitutes a powerful space for artistic learning, social interaction, listening, and a sense of belonging. Furthermore, the study highlights that teaching practice in the school choir goes beyond technical musical instruction, assuming a formative role that contributes to students’ holistic development and to the strengthening of Arts education in public schools.
