SUMMARY:

Improving routines and work processes has been a goal for both private and public organizations. One of the methodologies for developing this practice is the use of the hybrid Lean Six Sigma system, with numerous success stories in its application in both sectors. Despite this, there is a scarcity of works that narrate the use of LSS in the Judiciary, performing its core activities. In light of this, the present work has been developed with the objective of creating a model for the improvement of routine and/or organizational processes within a Judicial Unit, integrating the Lean and Six Sigma approaches, in order to enhance efficiency in processes that deliver value to their recipients. The approach that combines Lean and Six Sigma abstracts the strengths of each of these systems. From Lean, it brings the identification and elimination of waste and operations that do not add value to the activities performed in the routines and/or processes of the Unit; and from Six Sigma, the DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Implement Improvement, and Control), a systematic methodology for process improvement. The research began with a review of scientific literature on Six Sigma, Lean, integration between the mentioned approaches, and process management improvement. This was followed by the presentation of the proposed model, demonstrating the steps and procedures to be followed for its application, as well as the tools that will assist in the development of the path taken. The research-action methodology will be used as the scientific method for conducting the study, and the intervention will take place in a Labor Judicial Unit as the research field. After the intervention is completed with the full application of the model, the results will be assessed in order to answer the research question: is it possible to improve the routines and/or organizational processes of a Judicial Unit using an integrated approach with the principles and tools of Lean and Six Sigma?
