SUMMARY:

Women living on the streets, or who live off and on the streets, make the streets their living spaces;
nevertheless, the visibility of these ways of life produces disquieting invisibilities regarding the lack of
protection, violence, and stigmas that they face on a daily basis. Knowing how to live on the streets
requires a craftsmanship of resistance practices, care strategies, and movement within the corres
(hustles/informal survival strategies), in order to affirm life within these spaces, which are, moreover,
traversed by the violence produced by racist, patriarchal, capitalist, and colonial structures. Within this
context, people in street situations are inserted into processes of stigmatization and discrimination on
account of being on the streets, arising from constant and everyday associations with danger and drug
use, whereby prohibitionism and morality are engendered and, consequently, also produce injustices in
women's lives.Accordingly, the objective of this study is to map the ways of life and forms of
knowledge produced by women in street situations in Natal/RN. To this end, we are conducting a
cartographic intervention-research with women in spaces that constitute informal care networks. The
research field is being carried out across distinct spaces, namely: participation in the meetings of the
MNPR, as well as the proposal of creative workshops within a monthly activity organized by Toca de
Assis, a Franciscan Catholic institution. Through a commitment to group formation, we have been
identifying openings for the investigation of ways of life and forms of knowledge, as well as for the
participatory engagement of these women in the research, insofar as they have been appropriating the
workshops as a means of expressing their desires and as a space for discovery. Therefore, this study
seeks to contribute to the affirmation and appropriation, by these women, of their own processes of
care and socio-political emancipation.
