Dependent State and violence in the face of structural crisis of capital: a theoretical essay
Dependent State, Dependent Capitalism, state violence, structural crisis of capital
The last decades have been marked, significantly, by the increase of different forms of violence perpetrated by the state worldwide. In spite of this increase, however, this thesis seeks to discuss the structuring character of state violence and its specific manifestations in the bosom of dependent capitalism, seeking to defend that state violence is not only a corollary of dependence, but a self- replicating response of the global capital system which, in its ascending phase, was maximized on the periphery. Thus, the transfer of the ills of capital as a counterweight to the transfer of value in the relation imperialism-dependence is conformed. For this, the proposed thesis is in the format of theoretical essay, from the social theory of Marx, especially the Marxist tradition of dependence in dialogue with the theory of Mészáros about the state. The general objective is to discuss the social, economic and political function of dependent state violence and its conformation in the current stage of the unequal development of capitalism. The specific objectives are: (i) discuss the conformation of the state in dependent capitalism; (ii) identify the particularities of state violence as a corollary to the development of nation-states of dependent capitalism; and (iii) analyze state violence in the unequal development of the capitalist mode of production.
