SUMMARY:

The general objective of the present research is to bridge the fields of neuropsychology and education for the development of intervention programs, focusing on the creation of a teaching program that facilitates the development of initial reading and writing skills, based on the ontoepistemological framework of Historical-Cultural Neuropsychology. The research was organized into four stages. Stage 1 involved deepening and integrating the theoretical aspects of neuropsychology and education, providing the theoretical and methodological foundations of the research. Stage 2 focused on the development of the program. In Stage 3, the program underwent a critical analysis by expert judges. Finally, Stage 4 brought together the analyses from the previous stages, resulting in the formulation of the final version of the program. The research produced three studies. Study 1, titled "The Articulation between Historical-Cultural Neuropsychology and the Galperin-Talizina Theory in the Development of Intervention Programs," analyzed the studies of Soviet psychologists P. Ya. Galperin and N. F. Talizina on the stages of mental action and concept formation, and discussed the applicability of these authors' theoretical assumptions in constructing intervention programs in neuropsychology. Study 2, "Presentation of a Historical-Cultural Method of Literacy for the Development and Recovery of Initial Reading and Writing Processes," explored D. B. Elkonin's method, a novel formative pedagogical practice in the field of literacy, based on the awareness and materialization of different aspects of the sound word. Study 3, divided into two parts, presents in Part 1 the general structure of the program and in Part 2 the results of the validation by the judges. As the final outcome, three prototypes will be developed and validated: 1) a technical manual providing the theoretical and methodological foundations of the program; 2) an application manual containing general and specific activities for each clinical profile, along with usage guidelines; and 3) supporting material, including materialized schemes and guidance cards that form the cultural prostheses used in the habilitative work.
