PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN CARE FOR WOMEN IN A SITUATION OF VIOLENCE IN THE NORTHEAST COUNTRYSIDE
Violence against Women. Family Health Strategy. Primary Health Care, intersectoral action.
The objective of this study is to analyze the role of Primary Health Care in the care of Women in Situations of Domestic and Family Violence in the city of Assú/RN, from the perspective of intersectoriality and integrality of care. This is a descriptive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach. The investigation took place in April 2022, through the use of a field diary and semi-structured individual interviews, developed with 8 professionals who work in the Basic Health Units (UBS) and in the Health Management of the municipality. Data analyzed from content analysis according to Bardin. The results show that care for women in situations of violence is difficult to approach within the PHC, demonstrated by the difficulty of identifying and recognizing violence against women in their daily lives, aggravated by the absence of an internal and intersectoral flow of care and by the lack of information and lack of knowledge on the part of professionals regarding the Service Network, its functioning and articulation, limiting referrals to certain sectors of this network. The little organization with regard to this service, added to the little preparation of professionals or fear in dealing with the problem, as well as the difficulty in understanding their role and the functioning of the Service Network in facing violence against women, make the fragmented and discontinuous care. Thus, the need for PHC to understand its role within this network is identified based on the recognition of demands, with guidance, reception and qualified listening, appropriate procedures and referrals.
