Conceptions and challenges for the implementation of palliative care in the context of the family health strategy in the city of Apodi - RN
Palliative Care. Primary attention. Integrality.
For a long time, palliative care was seen as linked to the end of the life of patients, with changes in the growth of life expectancy, local-regional inequalities in access to health services, the increase in the prevalence of chronic conditions, among others. This generated important challenges to organize the care and healing process. The palliative care is focused on the quality of life that one can have, and not on the length of life at any cost. This care involves a set of care practices that aim at dignity and quality of life, with the reduction of suffering in terminally ill patients or with advanced-stage diseases. The objective of this research is to analyze the Discourses and Practices on Palliative Care in the context of the Family Health Strategy in the city of Apodi/RN. It is a qualitative research of the case study type, exploratory and descriptive in nature, in order to better understand what knowledge, practices and difficulties professionals/administrators face in their daily practice regarding this subject.
