HEALTH CARE FOR PERSONS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS AND THE QUALITY OF THE FAMILY HEALTH STRATEGY IN A SMALL CITY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that has a high worldwide prevalence and is related to high morbidity and mortality rates, representing a threat to public health. The quality of health services may be related to better glycemic control. the Primary Health Care Assessment Instrument has been used in order to assess health services, through the presence and extent of essential attributes and possible identification of Primary Health Care indicators that are subject to intervention and monitoring. In the context of the COVID-19 Pandemic they become even more available to be reached and evaluation in the emerging context is indispensable. In this study, we investigate an association between the quality of the Family Health Strategy and the Management of Diabetes Mellitus in Primary Health Care in the city of Vera Cruz / RN. For this, a cross-sectional observational, analytical and quantitative approach study will be carried out, using the application of the general structured questionnaire and the instrument for assessing the quality of Primary Care (PCATool-Brazil) and retrospective analysis of the records made in medical records of a sample of subjects. Based on this analysis, it is expected to identify challenges and potential of health services in the context of the current health emergency and provide for the achievement of desirable quality criteria.
