RESUMO:

The Ministry of Education, through the National Institute of Studies and Research Educational Anísio Teixeira (INEP), provides a series of databases and information of paramount importance to researchers in the fields related the education. The most relevant databases are the School Census and the Higher Education Census. It is through them that we can study some educational indicators such as those that are used to measure school performance and the efficiency of the school system by school flows (transition rates). These indicators give account of the internal efficiency in the educational system related to the educational process in development. According to INEP, educational indicators attribute values statistical to the quality of teaching, paying attention not only to students' performance, but also to the socioeconomic context in which students and schools are inserted. They are useful mainly for the monitoring of educational systems, considering the access, the permanence and the learning of all the students. Thus, the analysis of these indicators contribute to the creation of public policies aimed at improving the quality of education and services offered to society by the school. In addition, educational indicators make it possible the analyze and calculate of the school trajectory of students. The purpose of the transitional educational indicators is to inform the trajectory of the student in education, operationalized by educational levels. These levels, according to the INEP, represent the complexity of educational content and are associated with the individual's cognitive development and age. For some demographers such as Rios-Neto, educational indicators of transition represent an important tool for analyzing the student's transition into the school system in a given level of education. However, factors of the socioeconomic condition are likely to be involved in the transition of an individual from one educational level to another, that is, socioeconomic inequalities are factors that may be related the passage of the individual from the Elementary School to the High School and the transition from High School to Higher Education. Therefore, the general objective of this study is to evaluate which factors of socioeconomic profile in the school-age population (6 to 24 years old) are related to the evidence of the low probability of passage from one educational level to another. For this, we will use as source of the data the Questionnaire of Sample of the Demographic Census of 2000 and 2010 and as empirical analysis the multi-state analysis method. The multi-state method is used in demographics with a focus on the use of transition probabilities to calculate indicators that summarize, for example, life expectancy, as well as to study the impact of these transition probabilities on the dynamics of population groups.
