The trajectory of television in Rio Grande do Norte: a proposal for the periodization of regional media.
Regional television; Large northern river; Media History; Media ecology; Periodization.
This research aims to identify, analyze and delimit the possible stages of television development in Rio Grande do Norte. For this, the trajectories of Potiguar broadcasters, between 1972 and 2022, were selected as empirical objects, in order to later propose a periodization of the regional media (Rossetto, 2009). The present investigation is justified by the lack of in-depth studies on TV in the state and the lack of a periodization of the television media in Rio Grande do Norte. The investigation is theoretically based on studies by Mattos (2010a, 2010b), Barbosa (2010), Bolanõ (1999, 2007) and Capparelli (1982, 1986), on Brazilian TV, and Kneipp (2017), on TV potiguar. The study also includes the contributions of Williams (2016), Jost (2011, 2007), Wolf (2015) and Wolton (1996) on television media, in addition to research on regional television in Lima (2010, 2001, 200), Bazi (2016, 2001), Fábbri Júnior (2006), Aguiar (2016), Moreira (2019, 2015, 2009) and Santos (2008, 2006, 2007, 2006). The research also proposes to conceptually discuss the new ecology of regional television. Therefore, it had contributions from MCLuhan (1962, 1964), Postman (1994, 1979), Scolari (2015, 2014, 2010), Canavilhas (2023, 2011), Strate and Braga (2019), Becker (2022, 2016 ), Jenkins (2008) and Fechine (2014).
