THEY WHO NARRATED: A STUDY OF COMMENTS ON TWITTER ABOUT WOMEN'S NARRATING IN THE 2021 BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sports narration; Women; Symbolic violence; Social Network Analysis; Media studies.
For centuries, gender differences were evidenced by biological determinism. So, the so-called "social roles" that women and men should play were socially established, in addition to the spaces they could occupy. In sports journalism, male participation is still massive, but women have been conquering space in places that were previously occupied predominantly by men, as is the case of sports narration. With the expansion of the internet and the use of digital social networks, the issue of user opinions has become constant. Therefore, this research seeks to analyze how twitter profiles manifest themselves about the participation of women in the narration of matches of the 2021 Brazilian soccer championship (brasileirão). The hypothesis of this research is that these narrators suffer symbolic gender violence, through comments, for performing functions considered masculine.
