ME SHOWCASE: THE DISCURSIVE CONSTRUCTION OF FEMALE BEAUTY STEREOTYPES ON INSTAGRAM

Despite being a relatively recent phenomenon, social networks were able to significantly change the behaviors, habits and forms of consumption of information, communication and social relationships. On Instagram, the social network of interest in this research, life is narrated through publications that, in sequence, compose a showcase through imagery narratives, constructed by categorical utterances, which emphasize the beautiful, the perfect, the happy and the ideal. In this scenario, the female body emerges as an object of representation of the Self. This research aims to analyze the discursive production of stereotypes of female beauty on the Instagram platform. For this, Archeogenealogy and Discourse Studies, inspired by Foucauldian theorizations, are used as research tools.
