THINK OLGA: INTERSECTIONALITY, FACEBOOK MEDIATIC COMMUNICATION AND THE APPROPRIATION OF GENDER IDENTIFICATION IN THE SUBJECT OF FEMINISM
Media Studies. Cultural Studies. Intersectional Feminism. Facebook.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze if the contents present in the Facebook fanpage of Think Olga propagate the concept of gender identification advocated by intersectional feminism. This problem is especially involved in the fields of gender and media. It starts from the trajectory of feminist studies focusing on the Anglo-American context, especially from Cultural Studies, since in this theoretical current are the first studies relating media and feminism. The approach used is the intersection with the constructional bias of Avtar Brah (2006, 2007), since it allows to enlarge and make more complex the look on the production of inequalities and differences in their specific contexts, contributing to an analysis more in keeping with reality. For the comprehension of the publications, we use the Content Analysis of Laurence Bardin (1977) was used. As a result, the research data, explored from the markers of intersectionality, race, gender and class identification, form a complementarity relationship, evidencing the relevance of the intersectional approach as an articulator of "differences" categories.
