INTERSYSTEM RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STREAMING AND TELEVISION: A STUDY ON GLOBOPLAY

Brazilian television. Audiovisual streaming. Rede Globo. GloboPlay. (eco)systemic-cartographic method.

This study aims to map the network of forces that is being designed between the television ecosystem and the audiovisual streaming ecosystem in Brazil following the operationalization of GloboPlay. The (eco)systemic-cartographic method is proposed, which, based on the ecological approach (McLuhan; McLuhan, 1988) and the systemic perspective of communication (Luhmann, 2005), allows mapping a cartography – Deleuze and Guattari (1995); Martín-Barbero (2004) – understanding the television ecosystem and the audiovisual streaming ecosystem as a background/environment and GloboPlay as a figure/system. Our theoretical foundation covers internet television – (Lotz, 2017); Johnson (2019); the outlined aspects of audiovisual streaming – Johnson (2020); Arditi (2021); Lobato (2018) – and the configuration of Brazilian television – Mattos (2010); Jambeiro (2004); Bolaño (2004); Possebon (2009); Brittos (2001). To monitor the process of intersystemic relations between the television ecosystem and the audiovisual streaming ecosystem through GloboPlay, this research defines three analysis parameters: 1) organizational infrastructure; 2) reach infrastructure; 3) legal infrastructure. Considering the complexity of these relationships, it is believed that, based on these parameters, other ramifications will be captured and, thus, for the construction and presentation of this map.
