TOURISM AND PERCEPTION OF FEAR: THE IMPACT OF VIOLENCE ON THE USE OF PUBLIC SPACES OF NATAL/RN

This thesis project delas with the perception of fear of violence and crime in urban spaces, taking into account tourism. As a central objective, it was proposed to analyze the perception of fear of violence in relation to the socio-spatial tourist and urban dynamics of public spaces of Natal/RN. As for methodological resources, the study has qualitative and quantitative approaches, the data collection instruments to be used will be the form and script of interviews, and the analyses will be done from the contente analysis technique and the use of statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences – SPSS. Documentary research was parto f the data collection sice we 4.184 occurrence bulletins were analyzed, and the results, of this stage of the research, presented in this thesis project. Thus, it was found that the reports of occurrence analyzed presente incomplete results of the information collected, and that the variables required for filling out the document are neglected in relation to the information, because there is no standardization and concern with the information collected or obtained. Among other reasons, it is observed that the way information is beig collected do not demonstrate a real scenario of the problems of violence and crime of Natal, and make it difficult to develop more targeted public security policies and with an emphasis on the main types of events.
