SUMMARY:

Introduction: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) impairs
self-regulation and academic performance among university students,
highlighting the need for innovative technologies that support self-
management. This study aimed to develop and validate an artificial
intelligence-based conversational agent to support ADHD self-
management among university students. Methods: This
methodological study was grounded in the User-Centered Design
approach and conducted through sequential stages, including scoping
reviews, technology development, and validation with experts and end
users. Ethical aspects: The study was approved by the Research
Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte
under Certificate of Presentation for Ethical Consideration (CAAE) No.

90466025.0.0000.5537. Main results: The study resulted in the
development of an artificial intelligence-based conversational agent,
designed from scientific evidence and users' needs, incorporating
strategies focused on routine organization, time management,
psychoeducation, treatment adherence, and coping with academic
demands. Content, face, and usability validation are currently in their
final stages, following internationally recognized methodological
standards for health technology assessment. Conclusion: Integrating
nursing, artificial intelligence, and digital health enabled the
development of an innovative technology with the potential to support
ADHD self-management and contribute to new strategies for healthcare
and health education.
Research outputs: The study generated two scoping reviews, a
concept analysis of ADHD self-management, the development of an
innovative technological product, and scientific manuscripts derived
from the research.
