SUMMARY:

Introduction: The World Health Organization encourages the implementation of programs
and healthcare models focused on the autonomy, self-management, and self-efficacy of
patients with chronic diseases or conditions. In order to fulfill these objectives, the expert
patient program is based on peer learning and promotes a horizontal exchange of experiences
among peer patients and those with similar conditions. In Spain, the training of expert
patients and educators takes place through workshops that offer specific educational
resources, such as the guide "Living with a Stoma: Training for Educators," which provides
group dynamics techniques, communication skills, and care plans adapted to the condition of
the person with a stoma. Despite a global paradigm shift towards patient-centered care
autonomy, particularly for individuals with a stoma, Brazil still lacks patient training schools,
and scientific-technological productions on this subject are scarce. Therefore, it is possible to
introduce this paradigm shift with tested and stable models and technologies. Objective: To
translate and transculturally validate a guide aimed at training educators in intestinal stomas.
Methodology: This is a methodological study for the translation, adaptation, and clinical
validation of the aforementioned guide, developed by the expert patient school program in
Andalusia, Spain. The translation and cultural adaptation for the Brazilian context will occur
in five operational phases: Authorization from the authors of the work; Initial translations;

Synthesis of translations; Back translation; and Composition of a committee of specialists.
Additionally, the research will follow the ethical principles established in Resolution No.
466/2012 of the National Health Council, ensuring respect for participants, their dignity,
autonomy, and anonymity, as well as obtaining informed consent through express, free, and
informed consent, which will be formally documented in the IC. Expected results: It is
expected that this research will significantly contribute to the development of an educational
technology applicable to the Brazilian context, providing not only practical resources for the
training of educators in intestinal stomas but also serving as a model for future studies and
scientific-technological productions in the field of nursing. Furthermore, the successful
implementation of the guide may represent a considerable advancement in nursing science
and the quality of life of patients with intestinal stomas.
