Evaluation of control measures for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in a university hospital.

The Ministry of Health, through the Manual of Recommendations for the Control of Tuberculosis in Brazil, advises that control measures be carried out to interrupt the disease transmission chain. These measures are divided into administrative (managerial), environmental (or engineering) and individual protection. The objective of this research will be to evaluate the control, administrative, management and protection measures for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection from the perspective of structure and process in a university hospital located in Natal / RN. This is a normative health evaluative research with a quantitative approach. It will be used as a theoretical methodological reference the health assessment from the perspective of Avenis Donabedian and will be analyzed the structure and process dimensions. Data collection will be performed with health professionals linked to the university hospital located in the city of Natal, RN. with health professionals linked to the university hospital located in the city of Natal, RN. A sample of 305 health professionals will be selected for the interview in the following professional categories: Doctor, Nurse, Social Worker, Nutritionist, Physiotherapist, Psychologist,Pathology Technician, Radiology Technician, Nursing Technician and Nursing Assistant.The instrument used at this stage will be a structured questionnaire prepared by health surveillance professionals and specialists in tuberculosis control in Brazil. The questionnaire will be divided into professional characterization, structure dimension and process dimensionFor the analysis of control measures performed by health professionals at the university hospital, the dimensions, sub-dimensions and variables for issuing the value judgment related to these measures will be considered. Data will be submitted to descriptive statistics through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences program. This project will be forwarded to the research ethics committee of the institution responsible. At all stages of the research, the ethical premises proposed by resolution 466/12 on research with human beings will be respected. It is expected with the study, contribute to the identification of indicators assisting in decision making for the control of infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, present considerations that may contribute to improve the process of care of health professionals, as well as encourage reflection on the subject. in the training of these professionals.
