SUMMARY:

Endometriosis is a chronic, inflammatory, estrogen-dependent disease
that affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age,

negatively impacting functionality, quality of life, and emotional well-
being. In Brazil, healthcare visits related to endometriosis have

increased by 76.2% in recent years, highlighting the relevance of the
condition and the need for health education strategies. This study aims
to compare knowledge about endometriosis among Brazilian women

with and without a diagnosis of the disease, as well as to evaluate self-
reported perceptions regarding the impact of endometriosis on

functionality, based on the World Health Organization International
Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). This is a
descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study conducted through a
self-administered online questionnaire containing sociodemographic,
gynecological, lifestyle, disease knowledge, and functional-related
questions. Data processing will be performed using the IBM SPSS
Statistics software, applying descriptive and inferential statistics
through Pearson or Spearman correlation tests, Student’s t-test or Mann–Whitney test, and Pearson’s chi-square test, according to the
distribution of variables. The results are expected to contribute to a
broader understanding of women’s level of knowledge about
endometriosis and their self-reported perception of the condition’s
impact on functionality, demonstrating how women perceive the effects
of the disease.
