SUMMARY:

Introduction: Lumbopelvic pain and sexual dysfunction are common during
pregnancy, negatively impacting quality of life. Studies suggest that
strengthening the pelvic floor improves these conditions, however the
relationship between them in pregnant women is little explored. Objectives:
To analyze the relationship between lumbopelvic pain and sexual dysfunction
in pregnant women, using the International Classification of Functioning,
Disability and Health (ICF) as a reference model. Methods: This study will be
characterized as an analytical observational, cross-sectional study. It will be
conducted by a specialized team from the Department of Physiotherapy of the
Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, located in the city of Natal, Rio
Grande do Norte, Brazil. The sample will be composed of convenience,
including pregnant women over 18 years of age, with and without lumbopelvic
pain, with and without sexual dysfunction, and able to travel to the evaluation
site. Non-pregnant women, women with high-risk pregnancies, pregnant
women with neurological and psychiatric disorders, who compromise physical
function or who have cognitive impairment will be excluded. Participants will
undergo an evaluation of sociodemographic data, lifestyle habits,
gynecological and obstetric history, in addition to the evaluation of low back
pain, sexual function and functionality. Lumbopelvic pain will be assessed and
measured through specific tests such as the Straight Leg Raise Test, Patrick
Faber Test and the Modified Trendelenburg Test. As well as scales and
questionnaires such as the Numerical Pain Rating Scale, Pelvic Pain
Questionnaire and the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire. The sexual function
of pregnant women will be assessed using the Pregnancy and Sexual
Function Questionnaire. In addition, the World Health Organization Disability
Assessment Scale, WHODAS 2.0, will be applied. Statistical analysis of the
data will be performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences
(SPSS). Expected results: The aim is to identify the association between
lumbopelvic pain and sexual dysfunction in pregnant women, characterizing
the pelvic floor muscle function and evaluating the applicability of the ICF in
the biopsychosocial analysis of these conditions. The aim is to write scientific
articles, including a systematic review, to obtain a better understanding of the
influence of lumbopelvic pain and sexual dysfunction in pregnant women. The
results can expand scientific knowledge, improve clinical practices, and guide
public policies to promote the comprehensive health of pregnant women, minimizing pain and dysfunctions and improving quality of life and sexual health.
