Statistical study of the distribution of silences in Soundscapes
soundscape, quiet times, power law distribution, power law, temporal correlation, cutoff
In this work, we align some subprojects around soundscape and the study of the probability distributions of the
quiet times of this soundscape. According to literature, the quiet times in soundscapes follow the distribution of the power
law type and such distribution seems to present a universal pattern, that is, given any soundscape, we will get the same
distribution for the quiet times. The potential subprojects are as follows: study of the cutoff of the power law, possible
violation of the power law in daytime urban Soundscapes, physical model for the power law of silences in Soundscapes, study
of the temporal correlation of silences, effect of frequency on the power law.
