This study presents a narrative literature review on the teaching and learning of additive structures by deaf children within the perspective of bilingual education (Brazilian Sign Language – Libras as L1 and written Portuguese as L2). Grounded in Vergnaud's Theory of Conceptual Fields, Vygotsky's sociocultural approach, and Cognitive Psychology, the study analyzed 28 Brazilian scientific publications identified in the databases SciELO, Google Scholar, CAPES Journals, ERIC, PsycINFO, Dedalus, and BDTD. The results reveal significant advances in the development of visual resources, assistive technologies, and pedagogical materials aimed at mathematics education for deaf students. However, Libras is still frequently used merely as a translation tool, overlooking its potential as a mediator in the construction of mathematical reasoning. Regional inequalities in scientific production and gaps in bilingual teacher education were also identified. It is concluded that Libras constitutes a fundamental element for the meaningful learning of additive structures
