SUMMARY:

This dissertation investigates self-education as a constitutive dimension of human development, taking Chico Buarque's work A Ópera do Malandro as its analytical axis, in its articulation between artistic language, social criticism, and the production of learning. The objective of the study is to comprehend how the referred work can operate as an aesthetic-formative device capable of mobilizing self-formation processes marked by complexity, ambiguity, and sensitive experience, in contrast to pedagogical models based on linearity and neutrality of knowledge. The theoretical framework is based on the complex thinking of Edgar Morin, especially on the notions of strategy, uncertainty, and reconnection of knowledge, and on the philosophy of Michel Serres, based on the ideas of crossing and mestizaje. The research is characterized as qualitative and of an interpretative nature, adopting literary writing in the form of short stories as an epistemological strategy coherent with the object under investigation. The figure of the malandro, in dialogue with the archetype of the arlequim, is mobilized as a cognitive operator to reflect on processes of self-formation produced on the margins of normative systems. The analytical path constructed throughout the research allows us to affirm self-formation as a non-linear process, intersected by conflicts, displacements, and sensitive experiences, recognizing aesthetic education as a legitimate dimension of knowledge production in the educational field.
