This research aims to analyze the scientific dissemination actions promoted by the Associação Brasileira de Educação (ABE) based on the import-export movement of ideas for education, from the creation of the Associação in 1924 to the year marked by a second internal reformulation of the institution and corresponding to the publication of the Manifesto of the Pioneers of New Education in 1932. To this end, we are guided by the following research question: how did the ABE promote scientific dissemination actions in the context of the import-export movement of educational ideas in Brazil between 1924 and 1932? We used as theoretical basis the contributions of Vidal (2020), Struck, Ferris, Revel (2011), Vera and Fuchs (2021), Lawn (2014), Houssaye (2007), and Medeiros Neta (2023) on the transnational history of education and the import-export of ideas, while Burlamaqui (2013) and Moreira and Massarani (2001, 2002) on scientific dissemination. The methodology adopted was the historical method, according to Rüsen (2015), and the privileged collections were: Hemeroteca Brasileira de Educação; Brasiliana Fotográfica Digital; Repositório de História e Memória da Educação; Armanda Álvaro Alberto collection and Anísio Teixeira collection of the Programa de Estudos e Documentação Educação e Sociedade;Arquivo Carmen Jordão; Repositório Digital Tatu; Repositório Institucional da Universidade de Santa Catarina; Phototheque UNIGE of the University of Geneva; Pour L’Ère Nouvelle – Revue International of the Jean-Jacques Rousseau Institute. Based on our research, we identified the following dissemination activities promoted by the ABE: the creation and operation of state sections and departments; events (National Education Conferences and Education Weeks); the Revista Schola; the Biblioteca Pedagógica; the Consultório Pedagógico; educational cinema and radio. As for actions based on the import-export of ideas, we found educational trips abroad by educators and the Biblioteca de Educação (Education Library) collection, organized by Lourenço Filho, linked to the Companhia Melhoramentos de São Paulo. The development of these actions aimed to change the educational and social reality of Brazil based on the understanding of educators and intellectuals, who asserted that the country was unfavorable to the development of progress, culture, and modern and innovative education. This initiative took place through different scientific dissemination devices, which chose pedagogical methods and knowledge considered scientific and appropriate for the population and prescribed healthy practices while rejecting others.
