FEMINISM AND ECONOMIC AUTONOMY: An evaluation of ATER Women in the city of Currais Novos/RN - 2015/2017

In the years between 2015 and 2017, rural women from the Seridó region have benefited from the Public Policy on Technical Assistance and Rural Extension for Women. ATER for women is part of a set of public policies conquered by the women's movement which exists since the early 2000s. The research ‘Feminism and economic autonomy: an evaluation of ATER’s Women in the city of Currais Novos/RN aims to do an effectiveness evaluation of the ATER women program in the city of Currais Novos, located in Rio Grande do Norte state from 2015 to 2017. The specific objectives are: 1) To investigate whether the program contributed to the autonomy of women; 2) Identify if there were economic changes and perception of the social role of women in the lives of the beneficiaries in the program; 3) Investigate the socialization of domestic work and care within the family of women beneficiaries. The conceptual debate will be mainly focused on feminist theorists according to the approach to women's economic autonomy, the sexual division of labor and feminist economics in dialogue with the concept of development as liberty written by Amartya Sen (2000). The methodological process will include a literature review on feminist economics, development and evaluation of public policies for the construction of the theoretical framework, qualitative research, composed by a bibliographical and documentary research, semi-structured interview and focus group.
