LIQUID OR SOLID? Representations of love among shopkeepers in a supermarket parking lot in the south of Natal/RN
Romantic love; Love liquid; Consumption; Intimacy.
The transformations of intimacy that took place, especially after the rise of capitalism, produced a number of changes in the way of life in society. The advent of modernity with the great European cities has strengthened these changes. In the field of intimate relationships the strengthening of romantic love operated in a meaningful way in the love behaviors and in the imaginary that has been established ever since. Already in contemporary times, romantic love remains strong, but imposes a series of demands and the fulfillment of roles that are no longer supported. Sociologists like Zygmunt Bauman claim that there has been a broadening of interpretations of institutions governing collective life. Human ties and values, in contemporary times, succumb to the values of the market and consumption. Using the author's statements as a hypothesis, we investigated the customers of a supermarket parking lot in the southern part of Natal / RN. The space is characterized by having a diverse audience and aged between 16 and 31 years, those investigated brought relevant information about their view of love, showing that the notions of romantic love are more vivid than Bauman imagined. This research uses as an initial methodological method quantitative and qualitative research techniques, in addition to semi-structured interviews. The dissertation will seek to show the representations about the love between this diversified group and to verify the concept of predominant love between them.
