SUMMARY:

This study proposes to examine the ideological influence exerted by certain political actors, movements, and organizations on their contemporary counterparts, based on the premise that these modern entities inherit and reinterpret ideological traits from past experiences. It is assumed that such legacies not only persist but also adapt to the evolving political, social, economic, and cultural conditions of modernity. As the object of investigation, this research focuses on the Brazilian Integralist Action (AIB), a far-right political organization that played a significant role in Brazil during the 1930s. Due to its complexity and historical relevance, Integralism remains a subject of interest across various fields of the humanities and social sciences, particularly concerning studies of political ideologies, political-party organizations, and Brazil’s political history. The research will employ Michel Pêcheux’s discourse analysis and the Discursive- Imagetic Analysis methodology to identify ideological elements in the discourse and audiovisual materials linked to Integralism. From this analytical perspective, the study seeks to draw parallels with the discursive and imagetic representations of the radicalized new right-wing movements that have gained political prominence in Brazil over the past decade, aiming to assess whether they reproduce the integralist legacy or signify an ideological rupture and reconfiguration.
