BEYOND THE GLASS CEILING: Women Rising in Brazil's Justice Courts
Gender; Magistracy; Equity; Brazilian Justice Courts.
This research investigates the persistent gender inequality in Brazilian Justice Courts, despite national and international legislative advancements. The study aims to map female judges' perspectives and obstacles hindering full gender equality in the Judiciary. Through in-depth interviews and documentary analysis, it seeks to understand the feminization of the magistracy, compare Brazilian judicial policies with those of the French system, and identify challenges faced by women, particularly those promoted to second-degree jurisdiction via gender-alternating affirmative action (CNJ Resolution 525/2023). The expected results will contribute to more effective public policies and strengthen the Democratic Rule of Law.
