SUMMARY:

Tufas are continental carbonate rocks that occur locally within the geological record of the Potiguar Basin, such as on the western margin near Quixeré (CE) and the southwestern margin near Felipe Guerra (RN). These deposits are increasingly recognized for their potential either as hydrocarbon reservoir rocks or as indicators of dissolution (karstification) zones within reservoirs. This study focuses on an inactive tufa outcrop exposed in a roadside cut near Quixeré (eastern Ceará State, Northeast Brazil). One of the main objectives of this research to apply an integrated methodology, combining Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) photogrammetry, to generate a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model (DOM). An aerophotogrammetric survey using RPAS covered an area of 31,000 m² with a spatial resolution of 1.24 cm/pixel. Additionally, six GPR profiles in the SW-NE direction and two in the SE-NW direction were collected using a 200 MHz antenna. Through the integration of GPR data and a photomosaic of the adjacent roadcut, it was possible to (i) differentiate the lithologies present using geophysical attributes; and (ii) construct high-resolution aerophotogrammetric models (Digital Elevation Model - DEM and a Digital Terrain Model - DTM) that accurately represent the external geometry of the Quixeré outcrop. These preliminary datasets were then imported into Petrel™ software, enabling the creation of a 3D digital model of the outcrop that portrays both its external morphology and the spatial distribution of its depositional systems (DOM)
