ASSESSMENT OF THE INFORMATION COMPETENCE AMONG RETIRED USERS OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE DO NORTE IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APP - SOUGOV
Dissemination of information. SouGov application. Informational competence. Retired Servers.
The dissemination of information has played a crucial role in social changes over the last few decades. This “informational explosion” brought by the digital era and driven by the evolution of the internet, has brought enormous benefits to areas such as medicine, science and business, but also brought many challenges dealing with the massive amount of data in an ethical and responsible way. While advances bring gains, the excessive volume of information can make it difficult to retrieve relevant data, requiring specific skills for the appropriate use of the most varied resources available. However, not everyone has such skills, which reflects social inequalities in the sense that information behavior involves the individual's connection with information sources’, demanding the ability to identify, organize and apply these data in practice through the information - access triad - knowledge. Information shapes beliefs and behaviors, influencing cultural and social changes over time; the access to information catalyzes social transformation, allowing individuals to reach their learning potential and ascend socially and; knowledge drives human, economic and social progress, being essential for the construction of the modern world. Therefore, it is interesting that skills are developed through training and the use of technologies that favor better decision-making, thus promoting the active participation of individuals in society. With the aim of analyzing the informational competence of retired employees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, through the Federal Government application – SouGov – and its influence on access, search and use of information, a descriptive case study with exploratory, quantitative-qualitative characterisitics was carried out, which uses a questionnaire to generate its data. Through this study, we hope to understand the informational competence of retired UFRN employees who use the SouGov application, as it is a system through which it is possible to manage both, personal and server information, at the institution.
