The waste generated by chemistry laboratories, arising from teaching, research and extension activities of Higher Education Institutions - HEIs -, has been an emerging problem, since the vast majority of HEIs do not have a management plan and, in most In some cases, such waste is collected and accumulated in reagent bottles for many, many years, although the quantity generated is not comparable to that generated by the industrial sector, they present great diversity, causing numerous risks to the quality of water and soil. The present research proposal aims, therefore, to study the use of clay minerals modified by the insertion of an organic component, seeking to provide a low-cost alternative for possible implementation in Brazilian HEIs in their effluent treatment processes from teaching, research and extension activities.
