The landfill leachate is produced by the amount of municipal solid waste and has an important place on causing potentially serious hazards. In this work, we studied the reduction of COD in landfill leachate by comparing two different electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs), namely electro-Fenton (EF) and photo electro-Fenton (PEF). Assays were performed with pre-pilot flow plant equipped with Si/DDB as anode and carbon-PTFE air-diffusion as cathode for H2O2 generation from O2 reduction. In PEF two types of radiation (UVA and UVC) were tested. This result is very interesting since UVA radiation is close to solar radiation, thus ensuring a good performance of this system in the presence of solar energy.
