SUMMARY:

The Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment (CPFR) model has established itself as one of the main collaborative strategies to improve planning, forecasting, and replenishment in the supply chain. Despite the widely recognized benefits in the literature, such as higher forecast accuracy, inventory reduction, minimization of stockouts, and operational efficiency gains, its implementation still faces significant barriers related to collaborative maturity, technological integration, interorganizational alignment, and the quality of information sharing. In this context, this research aims to systematize the theoretical and practical findings in the literature and to structure a guiding conceptual framework capable of supporting the effective adoption of the model, integrating enabling factors, stages of the collaborative process, and strategic outcomes identified in recent studies (2015–2025). Methodologically, the study is characterized as a qualitative, exploratory, and bibliographic research, based on scientific publications selected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Through a systematic analysis of the literature, the main implementation approaches, as well as recurring barriers, enabling factors, and theoretical gaps, are discussed, with an emphasis on the context of food retail. Additionally, preliminary results of a descriptive empirical analysis are presented, involving a sample of 20 regional customers from the North and Northeast regions, with the aim of illustrating the relationship between data-sharing practices and the adoption of CPFR. As a theoretical contribution, the study proposes a conceptual framework structured around three dimensions: input, process, and output, built from the theoretical framework, which organizes elements such as partner interaction, information technology, data sharing governance, collaborative forecasting, monitoring, and performance analysis. On a practical level, the preliminary results reinforce that data sharing, although necessary, is not sufficient to ensure the implementation of CPFR, highlighting the importance of structured and integrated approaches for consolidating collaboration in the supply chain. Thus, the study contributes to the advancement of academic debate and provides managerial insights for the application of CPFR in the food retail sector.
